Human In The Loop Oversight For AI Decision Systems
Learn how to implement effective Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) oversight for AI decision systems. This course covers AI governance, regulatory compliance, human review workflows, risk management, and accountability for responsible AI deployment.
Course Overview
Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) oversight is a critical requirement for organizations deploying AI systems in high-risk environments. As AI increasingly influences hiring, lending, healthcare, and public services, meaningful human review, escalation, and accountability have become essential to responsible AI governance. This course introduces the core principles of HITL oversight and the practices that distinguish trustworthy AI deployment from unchecked automation.
Participants will explore how U.S. and international AI governance frameworks shape oversight requirements, including U.S. state-level regulations, the NIST AI RMF, ISO standards, OECD AI Principles, and the EU AI Act. The course also examines how organizations translate these requirements into effective internal policies and operational controls.
In addition, the course covers the practical implementation of HITL programs, including human review workflows, reviewer training, quality monitoring, data privacy, supporting technologies, AI risks, and common failure modes. By the end of the course, participants will understand how to build and maintain scalable, compliant, and effective HITL oversight programs that support responsible AI governance.
