Protecting the welfare of all our learners

1. Purpose and Scope

This Safeguarding Policy sets out the commitment of Skill Up LLC (trading as AI Governance Institute) to safeguarding the welfare of all individuals who interact with our platform, with particular regard to:

  • Adult learners who may be at risk of harm, exploitation, or abuse
  • The prevention of radicalisation or extremist influence
  • The safe and ethical delivery of online professional development content

This policy applies to all content published on our platform, all communications with learners, and all contractors, instructors, and partners engaged by the organisation.

2. Our Safeguarding Commitment

AI Governance Institute is committed to:

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful online learning environment
  • Protecting all learners from abuse, exploitation, harassment, and discrimination
  • Ensuring that course content is factually accurate, ethically produced, and does not promote harmful ideologies
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to all safeguarding concerns
  • Maintaining learner confidentiality while fulfilling any legal or regulatory disclosure obligations

3. Designated Safeguarding Lead

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for AI Governance Institute is the senior management representative of Skill Up LLC.

4. Eligibility and Age Restrictions

Our platform is intended for professional adult learners aged 18 and over.

We do not knowingly offer courses to, or collect personal data from, individuals under 18 years of age.

Account registration requires confirmation that the user is 18 or over. When we identify that a minor has registered an account, the account will be suspended and the matter reviewed in accordance with applicable policies and legal requirements.

5. Online Safety

As an online learning platform, we recognise specific online safety risks and are committed to mitigating them through appropriate safeguards.

We ensure that:

  • Any communication tools (such as messaging or forums, where applicable) are monitored for appropriate use
  • Clear reporting mechanisms are available for learners experiencing harassment or inappropriate behaviour
  • Content that promotes harm, abuse, or exploitation is not permitted
  • Appropriate data protection measures are implemented to protect learner identity and safety

6. Prevent Duty

AI Governance Institute is aware of the UK Prevent duty framework and similar safeguarding responsibilities in other jurisdictions.

We are committed to ensuring that no content published on our platform promotes extremist ideologies or facilitates radicalisation.

All course content is reviewed to ensure it aligns with these safeguarding principles and does not contribute to harm or unlawful influence.

7. Reporting a Safeguarding Concern

If you have a safeguarding concern — whether about yourself, another learner, or any content — please follow the steps below:

  1. Contact us immediately at [email protected] with the subject line “SAFEGUARDING”
  2. Provide as much detail as possible regarding the concern
  3. Do not attempt to investigate or confront anyone involved

We will review all safeguarding concerns promptly and take appropriate action where necessary.

8. Review

This Safeguarding Policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if required following any significant incident or operational change.
